Frances Melendrez Cardenas

Frances Melendrez Cardenas, 76, of Beaumont, Texas passed away May 31, 2020. She was born in Douglas, Arizona on August 24, 1943 to the late Jose Flores Melendrez and Matilda Polacios Melendrez. Frances was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. Frances was a loving wife and mother, an amazing grandmother and great-grandmother, and a great homemaker. She was deeply spiritual and attended St Charles Catholic Church regularly, where she served on the Ladies Altar Society. She had a deep love for her Mother, Mary, and her Lord. She was a beautiful soul, who took care of everyone, be they family, friend, or stranger. She loved animals and going to “puppy-sit” as often as she could. She went by Mom, Nay-Nay, Pancha, and Aunt Frankie. She loved old western movies, but her favorite pastime was spoiling her children, grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Those left to cherish Frances’s memory are her husband of 57 years, Maximo Cardenas, Jr. of Beaumont; her daughter, Cynthia Ramirez of Imperial, California; her sons Maximo Cardenas III and Caron Hartman of Beaumont, Arthur Cardenas and Kathrine Shoemaker of Lumberton, and George Jay Cardenas and his, wife Jennifer of Nederland; 7 grandchildren, Erik Ramirez and his wife Alicia stationed in Japan, Julian Cardenas and his wife Jazmyn of Hamshire, Nicholas Cardenas of Nederland, Erika Ramirez of Imperial California, Jillian, Jacie, and Jude Cardenas of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Lilly-Kai and Aubree-Hayes Ramirez, Ava, Karsyn, Aria, and Ericka Cardenas; and her siblings, Joe C. Melendrez, Mike Melendrez, Maria Elena Melendrez-Perez, and Ralph Melendrez. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with visitation to follow from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. John Hughes celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland

I was 11 yrs old when I met her and her husband. Sweetest lady ever. Loved her husband, children and in-laws so much. Once I was an adult and married Frances and Mike would come to my house in Bridge City and would play cards. After a period of time I got busy with teenagers and she was busy with grand kids so we rarely saw each other! I loved her and her family dearly! RIP sweet lady! Your at peace in the arms of Jesus.:kissing_heart:
