Words cannot express the pleasure it was to have had Fran in my life. She would often tell me how lucky she felt to have had found me, be the truth of it is I think, no, I know that we were blessed to be in each others life. We shared a lot in the seven years I was with her, and I was truly inspired by her knowledge of life, her strength to go on even in difficult times. She was a lady in every way, in her appearance, mannerism, in her communication with everyone she would meet, and her sharp mind even to the end. She never hesitated to correct you if your grammar was not in perfect form, or to tell you what was on her mind. And as she would say "I hope you dont mind me correcting you" but you need to use English in its proper form, a teacher to the end. I will never forget her saying, It only cost a little bit more to go first class, and she was a first class lady in every way. Rest in peace my dear friend, until we meet again. Nancy

Something urgent came up and prevented me from doing so. I had lunch with her at Calder Wood several weeks ago. She

Francis H. Devall, my teacher, my mentor,my role model, my advisor and friend for over fifty-seven years from seventh grade on. In later years when I visited my mother at Calder Woods , I was always expected and honored to share her table at lunch and catch up on what was going on in our lives. Those were enjoyable days. I will truly miss her as much as the other John Marshall does. She was much more to me than just my teacher. She was Francis H.Devall. It just doesnt get any better than that.

Nadine and Marshall - I will always have such fond memories of Fran. At a very difficult time in my life, her home was a haven to me. She always offered a cold drink and a listening heart. I know you will miss her. She was a wonderful lady - a beacon of gentility. Marshall, sing something wonderful in her memory.

I did not know Mrs. Devall personally, Only through my friend Nancy Fontenot. Nancy loved her like a mother and took the best care of her that was possible. They became friends forever and what a blessing for them both. She will be missed terribly and was loved and treasured by Nancy. May she rest in peace.
