Frances Nova Gilchrist, 79, of Nederland, passed away on October 2, 2013 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. She was born on February 3, 1934 in St. Augustine, Texas to the late Bernard and Lucille Allen Bussey. Frances was a lifelong resident of Mid-County and retired as a registered nurse.
Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. with Brother Michael Derrick officiating. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John C. Gilchrist, and sister, Billie Simpson. She is survived by her sons, Jon Gilchrist and his wife, Lenora of Little Cypress Mauriceville; Keith Gilchrist of Nederland; Ryan Gilchrist and his wife, Bonnie of Bryan College Station; daughter, Vande Derrick and her husband, Michael of Deer Park; brother, Jerry Allen of Henderson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and few close friends.
