Frank "Buddy" Bailey

1937 ∼ 2024

Mr. Frank Bailey, affectionately known as “Buddy” by friends and family passed away at his home in Groves on August 10, 2024. He was born on March 28, 1937, in Groves, TX and was married to his devoted and loving wife, Linda (Broussard) Bailey for 62 loving years. Frank was a respected brick mason for Bailey Masonry and spent his life dedicated to his craft, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and excellence.

Buddy’s career as a brick mason was not only his job but also his passion. He took pride in his work and was known for his meticulous attention to detail in every project he undertook. Over the years, Buddy was asked by family and friends to create and construct beautiful brickwork at their homes. His skill and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Outside of his professional life, Buddy was deeply passionate about his hobbies. He found great joy in coaching youth baseball, guiding all his sons through Little League, and was honored to be selected as the All-Star coach at Groves National Little League for many of those years. Buddy was also known to have a competitive side, as many have witnessed while playing against him in fast pitch softball. He also welcomed a spirited game of horseshoes, washers or corn hole. Buddy adored his three grandchildren and took great pride in watching them excel in their lives. “Pops”, as he was known by his grandkids, traveled many miles to watch golf tournaments and many evenings watching baseball, basketball, volleyball or whatever activity they might have been involved in at the time. Those who knew Buddy knew of his deep love for the PNG Indians, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros.

Buddy also cherished his time on the golf course, playing with family and friends in “The Bailey Game” on many a Friday afternoon at The Patch, the 9-hole golf course in Groves. He was vital to the success of The Patch for 7 years, where he dedicated much time and effort for the enjoyment of many golfers.

A man of integrity and commitment, Mr. Bailey's loss will be deeply felt by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. Bailey, and his devoted sons: Brent J. Bailey; Brad P. Bailey and his wife, Darla; Brian M. Bailey and his wife, Rachel; and Brandon P. Bailey. He was a cherished grandfather to Braden P. Bailey, Brynna R. Grillos and her husband, Johnny, and Brody L. Bailey.

In his passing, Mr. Bailey leaves behind a family who mourns his absence deeply. He is preceded in death by his father, James Walter Bailey, and his mother, Margaret Hitt. He joins his brothers, James W. Bailey, Jr.; Tommy Bailey; Johnny Bailey; Joe Bailey; Ronnie Bailey; Donald Bailey; Jackie Bailey; Robert Bailey, as well as his sister, Julia Bailey Evans, in eternal rest.

Mr. Bailey's siblings who survive him are his sister, Louise Bailey Jones; sister, Dorothy Bailey Elkins; sister, Janie Bailey Nicotre; sister, Betty Lou Bailey Saunders; sister, Debbie Bailey Fugate; and brother Paul Bailey. Together, they share in the sorrow of his passing, remembering his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Tasha, Kelsey and Gina at Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion given to Buddy over the last few months.

The visitation and funeral service to honor Mr. Frank "Buddy" Bailey will be held on August 15, 2024, in Groves, Texas. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Levingston Funeral Home 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas, 77619.

I’ve known Buddy my whole life, he was a great friend to me and both my brothers, E.O. & Bobby. I was the same age as Johnny and we went to school together from Groves Elementary thru PNG & graduated together. E.O. is same age as Paul and they did the same. I played softball for Bailey Masonry, not very good, & I think with the exception of Emmett Sheppard, and Elmo & Butch East we were the only ones on the team without the Bailey last name. Maybe some in-laws (when I think about it) Great family ! And I have loved them all. Buddy was my hero my whole life. May he rest in peace.

I don't know where to begin, I have known and loved this family my entire life, Buddy was my baseball coach, Teacher and mentor. He taught me much more than just baseball, he was a positive influence on all that knew him. I learned and cherished my younger days with all the boys and him growing and learning more and more every year. He was such a strong presence in all of baseball in Groves and beyond, he was proud of his family, worked hard and it was ever present. Thank you for being such incredible man and coach. I learned the entire game of baseball from you and was blessed for it. He was quick with praise and determined for greatness in every game. He was a true winner! May God Bless! Love you, Buddy!
