Frank “Nick” Nixson, III, 75 of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in Port Arthur, Texas.
Mr. Nick, as most people knew him by, was born in Longview, Texas on December 4, 1947. He was born to Edna Stocker Nixson and Frank (Buddy) Nixson. They moved to Port Acres in 1960 and he was a 1966 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Arthur. In 1970, he met and then married his late wife, Beverly Fontenot, and they settled in Port Neches in the early 70’s. For over 30 years, Mr. Nick manicured lawns all over mid-county, including many local businesses and churches in our area. Mr. Nick was very involved with scouting, holding weekly Cub Scout meetings at his home, and later, becoming a scoutmaster of Troop 67 in Port Neches. He attended Boy Scout camp every year at camp Urland in Woodville, Texas for many years. Nick and his late wife, Beverly retired and spent their final years enjoying family gatherings, and crawfish boils with their grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Nick’s memory include his sons, David Nixson and wife, Vicki and Derrill Nixson, all of Port Neches, Texas; his grandchildren, Kade Morgan, Kalah Morgan, and Kynlee Nixson, all of Port Neches, Texas; his brother, Terry Nixson and wife, Lana of College Station, Texas; numerous in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews and his god-daughters Elizabeth DeCluitt and Lindsay Singleton Toney.
Nick is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly Fontenot Nixson; his parents, Edna and “Buddy” Nixson; his brother, Dennis Carl Nixson; his mother-in-law, Belle Fontenot; and brother-in-law, Dennis Holberg.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
