Fred Joseph Gebauer

Fred Joseph Gebauer, 86, of Nederland passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont . He was born October 13, 1924 in Inez, Texas to the late Frank and Albina Repka Gebauer, and lived in Nederland since 1946.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, with Rev. David Placette officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the ion of Melancon39s Funeral Home 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 11th from 5 to 8 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.Fred retired from Texaco Refinery in the Storehouse with over 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, and a member of the Mid County Senior Citizens Center. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Fred loved his yard and garden, and would share his vegetables with everyone. He loved his neighbors and friends and drinking coffee at Market Basket every morning. He wouldn39t miss a meal at the Senior Citizens Center because he loved to visit and he loved the food. He enjoyed going to the casinos with family and friends, exercising faithfully, and the Nederland Bulldogs, which he followed since the 195039s, win or lose. However, the greatest love was for his church and family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and never missed any of their numerous activities. You could always count on his love and support.Fred was preceded in death by his grandson, Chris Coburn, and 6 brothers and sisters. He is survived by 2 daughters, Lajaunda Williams and husband Harry of Nederland, and Gaytha Guillot and husband David of Nederland 2 sons, Ronnie Gebauer of Houston and Keith Gebauer and wife Jeanie of Taylor Landing brother Paul Gebauer and wife Jessie of Cuero 4 grandchildren, Tiffany Dillard and husband Kirk, Kit Gebauer and wife Allison, Britny Trevino and husband Michael, and Charlene Gebauer and greatgrandchildren, Cross Coburn, Callie Sattler, and Baby Trevino due in September. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mid County Senior Citizens Center, 918 Boston Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627 or to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, 5005 Mitchelldale, Suite 115, Houston, Texas 77092.

Fred and my Dad Truitt Lasiter Red worked together at Texaco in the storehouse for many years. Fred would come by our house to visit Dad, we always enjoyed his company. He will be missed. Our prayers our with the family.Ann Darwin

Our deepest sympathy to Freds family. We lived next door to Harry and Lajuanda for 10 years and had the pleasure of sitting with Fred at the Bulldog football games this past year.He was such a sweet man and will be missed.
