Freddie B. Flint died at her home in Abilene, Texas on May 11, 2011 at the age of 99. She was born in Saratoga, Texas on March 27, 1912 to her parents Fred and Hallie Morris. When she was very young the family moved to Port Arthur, where she lived until she was 94. She loved Port Arthur, and she reluctantly moved to Abilene to be near her daughter, Dianne Dulin. Freddie B. graduated from high school in Port Arthur and then attended Port Arthur Business College. She was employed as a telephone switchboard operator by the Texas Company Refinery (Texaco) in Port Arthur, where she worked fulltime and part time until she retired at age 65. In 1933 Freddie B. married Howard T. Flint, who was also an employee of Texaco. They had one child, Dianne. They worked as volunteers for Camp Fire Girls and Order of Rainbow for Girls. They were long-time active members of the United Methodist Temple. Freddie B. was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She worked as a volunteer for many years, preparing donated clothing for the United Board of Missions' "Attic." At the age of 96 she was the oldest volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Abilene. Freddie B. was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed creative hobbies, such as oil painting, crocheting, woodworking, and furniture refinishing. She even tied the knots to make a shrimp casting net. Her passion was gardening, and she took great pride in the azaleas in her yard. Freddie B. and Howard had a happy retirement in Wildwood, TX, where they enjoyed fishing, boating, being with their friends, and visits from their grandsons. Freddie B. was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Howard, and her siblings Virgil Nicklebur, Mildred Teufel, and LeRoy Hildalgo. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Bill Dulin; her grandsons and their wives, Mike and Andrea Dulin of Charlotte, NC., also Joe and Margot Dulin of Austin; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX at 3:00 PM on Sunday May 15. Visitation will be before the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
