Freddie Mae Boyd Soileau, a beloved member of the Port Neches community, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on March 18, 1934, in Port Neches, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of George and Maybelle Boyd, who welcomed her into a world filled with love and warmth.
Freddie Mae dedicated a significant part of her professional life to secretarial work for Southwestern Bell Telephone, where her abilities and diligence were well-regarded. Beyond her career, she was known for her profound love of music, especially the piano. She enjoyed playing piano, especially hymns. Freddie was a member of First Baptist Church Port Neches from infancy till death.
Freddie Mae and Joel loved to travel sometimes with friends and family to many areas in America and Europe. Their favorite spots were Colorado, Gatlinburg and New York.
Freddie Mae was a Die-hard PNG Indian football fan.
Above all, family meant everything to her. Freddie Mae’s legacy is deeply woven into the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane May and her husband, Vic, of Port Neches; her grandchildren, Lauren Abbott and her husband, Kyle, and Victoria Angus and her husband, Cxadi; and her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Asher, Parker, Cole, Sawyer, and Baby Abbott. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother, Philip Boyd and his wife, Sheila, of Lumberton, her niece, Brandy Atnip (Sean) Colton, Avery of Lumberton and nephew, Justin Boyd (Michelle) Adilynn of Deer Park
Freddie Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Joel O. Soileau, as well as her parents, George and Maybelle Boyd. Her enduring spirit will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Visitation will take place on April 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall St, Port Neches, Texas, 77651. The service will be followed by a graveside service at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Pallbearers for Freddie will be Kyle Abbott, Cxadi Angus, Justin Boyd, and Sean Atnip.
Freddie Mae's memory and impact on those around her will continue to resonate through the love and fond memories shared by family and friends alike.
Also in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Roy Esquivel scholarship at First Baptist Church Port Neches.
