Frederick “Fred” Dale Perkins, 74, of Nederland, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Fred was born August 6, 1946 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Troy and Geneva Perkins. He was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church and served his country in the Army Reserves. Fred retired from Explore Pipeline after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and joking around. Fred had a love of sports, with baseball being his all-time favorite.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Troy L. Perkins and Geneva Ryland Perkins; sister, Carolyn Perkins; brother, Randy Perkins.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Cynthia Perkins; children, Belinda Perkins, Stacy Thompson and her husband, Sean; Todd Perkins and his wife, Kaylin; grandchildren, Ashley Leger, Macy Medrano (Alex); Taylor Sourdellia, Huntr Thompson (Sydnie); Kai Edwards (Blake); Morgan Perkins, Brooke Perkins, and Dawson Perkins; great grandchildren, Reese, Kynli, Landyn, Tyce, Braxtn, Blakelee, Kailee and Rowyn Grace. Mr. Perkins also leaves behind siblings, Gary Perkins (Betty) and Beverly Reid (Kenneth); In-Laws, Gladys and Stanley Simon, sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte (Conrad) Cooper, Stana (Stan) Evans, Thea (Devan) Tolar, Stan (Darla) Simon; his beloved fur baby of 16 years, Paris; extended family members; Cleo Tolley, Debbie and Butch Champagne.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at DaVita Dialysis Center and Dr. J.L. Forsythe for taking good care of Fred and Beaux for making dialysis a little easier.
Fred touched many lives during his years coaching baseball from T-Ball to Babe Ruth. A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home, Nederland, Texas.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
