G. "Dale" Taylor

1948 ∼ 2023

G. “Dale” Taylor, 74, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his residence in Nederland. Dale was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 25, 1948 to the late, Percy G. Taylor and Sarah V. Taylor.

Dale worked for Southwestern Bell and retired with 35 years of service. He completed his working years working for Maverick Communications in Beaumont, Texas. Dale was an avid supporter of the Nederland Bulldogs and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed white perch fishing, a good round of golf and was known to hit the bowling lanes from time to time. Dale was a bowling champion from 1971-1973. He and his father, Percy enjoyed being members of the Money Bowling League. He loved to dance, loved his wife’s cooking, loved a good outdoor barbecue, and enjoyed sharing a beer with friends. He was passionate about and loved his entire family. All his grandchildren shared a special place in his heart. Dale had a glowing personality and was known to be a jokester, even though some of his jokes turned out to be corny, he still enjoyed telling them. He was a man that never met a stranger. He always seemed to know people no matter where he went and he always welcomed everyone as though they were family. Simply said, “To know him was to love him”. He will be loved and missed by his family and countless friends.

Those left to cherish Dale’s memory include his loving wife of 25 years, Jackie Taylor of Nederland; son, Jacob Taylor and his wife, Angela of Marble Falls, Texas; daughter, Sarah Rodgers and her husband, Andy of Nederland; step-sons, Steven Niedenthal and his wife, Shelly of Port Neches and Jeremy Niedenthal of Nederland; sister, Betsy Evans and her husband, Jimmy of Vicksburg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Alyssa Niedenthal, Autumn Niedenthal, Cameron Niedenthal, Destiny Niedenthal, Alyssa Carlin, Anthony Niedenthal, Angel Niedenthal and Kane Rodgers; nephews, Gary Evans and his wife, Lauren, Mike Lewis and his wife, Jennifer and Ricky Evans and his wife, Tammy.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Percy G. Taylor and Sarah V. Taylor.

Dale & I grew up as next door neighbors in Nederland & remained lifelong friends even after I moved to Austin over 40 years ago. Some of my fondest memories were when he & Lester used to come up for their annual golf tournament in the New Braunfels area—we had great times by the Comal River grilling, having some beers, & talking everything sports—Bulldogs, Longhorns, Cowboys, Astros, Rockets, Spurs, you name it.. He was so much fun to be around & had an infectious personality…I will truly miss seeing him on my future visits back home. Kim & I send our love & prayers for comfort & strength to Jackie, Betsy, Jake, Sarah, & all family members & friends who are mourning the loss of this wonderful man. Rest in peace, my dear friend!!

Dale took me under his wing when I came to the Nederland crew in the late 90’s with Southwestern Bell. I’ll never forget our Saturday morning daylight golf rounds at The Babe where he gave me the nickname Dumplin. You will be missed “Bud”. So sorry for your loss Jackie. Love and prayers, Mike Babin

Walking in to Gammie and Pawpaw’s and hearing “Hey, behbeh!” (“Baby” but he says it like Pawpaw does). Always ditching my parents at family dinners to ride with and sit with him. Drinking my first (expired) beer on the porch with him. A lifetime of memories and too many for words to express. The greatest man to Gammie and our family.
