Gean Horn James, 73, of Nederland, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at her residence. Gean was born on July 20, 1944, in Port Arthur, to John Horn and Bernadette LeComb Horn. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Those left to cherish Gean’s memories, are her loving husband of 55 years, Don James of Nederland; sons, Donald Paul James and John Kimmie James, Sr. both of Nederland; grandchildren, John Kimmie James, Jr., Jewel Kelsey Campbell, Marley Killian James and great-granddaughter, Mary Guinevere Campbell.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Jaison Jacob, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Sinclair Oubre, Celebrant, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. The interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Gean. I went to school with John and my family and his as well as the Parrish's would get together quite often whether it be at my house or their's. Usually it was for a party, mainly birthday parties. The best memory I have of Gean is the Halloween party that I had at my house. Every time I would see Gean and Don in the store we would always talk about how much fun that party was. It was the best party and I will forever cherish that memory. So sorry to hear this news! Gean and Don are such great folks, always a hug and kiss. I thought the world of these two. Don - you will be in my prayers and thoughts my friend. This sweet lady Gean right before I was suppose to conduct and talk for my brother's fu real, she gave me a cross and medal to hold in my hand as I spoke. She said you will do great my friend.
