Gerald "Jerry" Dale Dugas Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Dale Dugas, Sr., 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away August 20, 2021. He was born in Vinton, Louisiana on May 7, 1940 to the late Louis Dugas, Sr. and Sidonia Broussard Dugas Renfro. Jerry served his country proudly in the U. S. Marines. Jerry was a proud Marine, being honorably discharged as a Cpl. (E-4) serving in the 7th Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He continued his trade as a plumber/pipefitter and became a Master Plumber. During his plumbing years he supervised and installed the plumbing in newly built hospitals and remodeled hospitals, with many other businesses. His nephew Tim Peyton said, “Best pipefitter whoever put on a pair of gloves.”

Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his children, Dale Dugas and his wife, Anita of Montgomery, Cindy Nelms and her husband, Gary of Lake Sam Rayburn, and Kim Peveto of Bridge City; his grandchildren, Aaron Dugas and his wife Erin, Colby Nelms and his wife Risa, Candace Denison her husband Adam, Jerrod Dugas, Zane Peveto, and Kane Peveto; his great-grandchildren, Dausen and Ryker Denison, Mason and Mallory Nelms, and Tinley and Hayden Dugas; his sisters, Amelia McRae of Nederland and Rebecca Hollier of Nederland; and the mother of his children and his friend, Jean Dugas of Bridge City. He is preceded in death by his parents; A. E. Renfro, Sr. and Sidonia Renfro; his brothers, Art Dugas, Louis Dugas, Jr., Earl Renfro, and A. E. (Bubby) Renfro, Jr.; and his sisters, Delores Taylor and Joy Bergeron.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
