Gerald “Bubba” Premeaux, 56, of Nederland, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at his residence. Bubba was born January 10, 1958 in Port Arthur to Gerald and Dorothy Premeaux and lived all of his life in Nederland. He was a self employed contractor.

Memorial services for Bubba will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, November 7, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with Rev. Patsy Alford Lynch officiating. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4 to 6 pm on Friday prior to the service.

Bubba is survived by his wife, Johanah Premeaux of Nederland; his mother, Dorothy Premeaux of Nederland; his sons, Jeremy Premeaux and his wife, Kristi of Nederland, and Cody Premeaux and his fiancé, Candyce Crouch of Nederland; his step-son, Michael Lester, Jr. and his wife, Summer of Port Neches; his brother, Troy Premeaux of Houston; and his sister, Roxie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Premeaux.

Bubba was a kind and compassionate person. He helped us take down our home after Rita. He helped us bury our pet horse of 29 years and was always available to help others. He worked with our construction business over the years and was always dependable. We always enjoyed visiting with him and listening to his many stories. He will be greatly missed. Absolutely stunned at the news of Bubba's passing. Working on and off with Bubba for over 30 years I can tell he was a hard working man, he did whatever it took to provide for his wife and family. That's where his heart was, he loved his wife and he loved his kids. He will be missed. RIP Bubba

Johanah and Troy, I was shocked to learn about the passing of Bubba. Our families go way back to junior high days. I will miss seeing him around town and visiting with him. He was always willing to help and do things for others, "the go to guy". Prayers go out to your entire family during this difficult time. I was saddened to hear the news of Bubba's death. He did many different kinds of contract work for me for a few years. I never got to meet him as I no longer live in the area but I enjoyed his gift of gab as we talked about things on the phone. I especially remember his compassion and how hard emotionally the work he did on cleanup at the beach after Ike impacted him. Blessings to all of his family and friends as you grieve.
