Gerald Lyn Simpson

1958 ∼ 2025

Gerald “Jerry” Lyn Simpson, a cherished son, brother, uncle and community member, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 66 in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on May 30, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, he was a gentleman whose warmth and kind spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Jerry dedicated a significant part of his life to his career as a machinist at Standard Alloy, where his commitment to excellence was evident in every task he undertook. His professional skills were matched only by his passions outside of work. A true automotive enthusiast, Jerry loved working on cars and found great joy in the company of like-minded friends within the Cavoilcade Antique Car Club, the Spindletop Street Rod Car Club, and the Model A Club of America. His love for old cars was not simply a hobby but a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and history, which he shared with countless others throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving parents, Johnny and Dorothy Simpson of Groves, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Bubba Simpson and his wife, Molly of Bandera, and Darrel Simpson and his wife, Susan of Bridge City, along with his sisters, Susie Simpson of Groves, Brenda Browning and her husband, Gene of Orange, Kristi Simpson of Austin, and Shelly Simpson of Groves. Additionally, Jerry leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their time with him and the lessons he imparted.

A gathering of Jerry's family and friends will be held on June 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651 followed by intombment at Oak Bluff cemetery in Port Neches, Texas. This will provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together, share memories, and honor the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to his family, friends, and the shared appreciation of classic automobiles.

Gerald Lyn Simpson will be remembered as a genuine soul whose passions and relationships painted the picture of a life well-lived. He now joins the ranks of those who have journeyed before him, while the love he fostered remains ever-present in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Just A Closer Walk With Thee When my feeble life is o'er, Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely o'er, To thy kingdom shore, to thy shore. Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it Jesus is my plea; Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. We love you, Jerry, you will be missed. ❤️ Rest in peace

Jerry was my brother whom I loved dearly. He brought great joy, & many wonderful memories to my life. Our family, & I miss him terribly. I will always love him. Pictures from his Birthday's are my favorite. So, I wanted to share a picture of him with our niece. This Bible verse has brought me some comfort: Isaiah 43:2. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. (God promises to be with his people during times of difficulty & hardships.) Hopefully this can bring others comfort as well.
