Gerald Wayne Vize, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Nederland, Texas. Born on November 21, 1930, in Taylor, Louisiana, he lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service to his community and family.

Gerald's career extended over four decades as an Operator at Jefferson Chemical, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. Beyond his professional life, he embraced his passions with fervor, proudly supporting the Dallas Cowboys and finding peace through fishing. His zest for life was evident to all who knew him.

A devoted member of the Nederland Masonic Lodge, Gerald also held the esteemed title of a lifetime member at the First Baptist Church of Nederland, where his faith played a pivotal role in shaping his values and guiding his actions. His commitment to fitness and well-being was exemplified at Exygon Health and Fitness Club, where he enjoyed connecting with others and staying active.

In his military service, Gerald served in the Army in the Korean War, exemplifying his spirit of service to his country. He approached every aspect of his life with a strong sense of duty, whether in his profession, his community endeavors, or his time spent with family and friends.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Retha Vize; daughters, Linda Nicholas and her husband, Bobby of Port Neches, Donna Solis and her husband, Don, Jr. of Nederland; and grandchildren, Aimee Slott and her husband, Ryan, Tish Shaddock and her husband, Christiaan, Don Solis III and his wife, Gwen, Jeremy Wayne Solis, and Ashley Ravani and her husband, Jake. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Cooper Slott, Lexi Reams, Camryn Slott, Stella Shaddock, and Don "Forrest" Solis IV. He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Vize and his wife, JoAnn of Nederland, along with his beloved canine companion, Cookie.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond James and Mary Lee Vize, whose memory he carried with pride and respect throughout his life.

Visitation for Gerald Wayne Vize will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651, commencing at 12:00 PM.

Gerald's remarkable spirit, unwavering love for his family, and dedication to his community will be fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones, who will cherish the memories they shared together.
