A Life Remembered

Obituary

Geraldine Laborde Tingle, 91, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Brea, California. Geraldine, affectionately known by her friends as Jeri, lived a life of dedicated service to her precious family, church, friends, community, and co-workers. She was born on March 31, 1935, in Echo, Louisiana. Nederland, Texas was her home for over 60 years. She was a kind and caring woman who loved to laugh and be surrounded by family and friends.

Jeri had many interests and hobbies. She loved gardening, playing cards and dominoes, trying her luck with the slots at the casino, any kind of crafting, working puzzles, and so much more. She liked collecting things. Jeri never saw a snowman that she didn’t fall in love with! She had great attention to detail and always put her best effort into anything she did. She was poised and beautiful, on the inside and out.

Jeri spent her early adult years as a homemaker, lovingly raising and tending to her two children. She began working outside the home in later years, in various capacities. Her favorite job was serving as a volunteer, coordinating all activities at the gift shop for The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Here she was able to use her administrative talents, her incredible people and relational skills, and demonstrate her knack for interior design and decoration. Oh, how she loved to shop for and display the merchandise in “her” gift shop.

Jeri is survived by her daughter, Debbie Meute, son, Bobby Tingle, and sister, Ruby Broussard. She will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, who simply call her Gran. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Hershel Tingle, parents, Sanford and Corrine Laborde, brothers, Percy and Donald Laborde, and sister, Loretta Bohrer.

The family will honor Jeri’s life with a visitation on May 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to11:30 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches, Texas, located at 2001Nall Street. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2006 Nall Street, Port Neches, from 12:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, also in Port Neches, Texas.

Jeri was indeed a “special” lady. Always a smile on her pretty face. We played cards together, and I missed her so when she moved. She was a blessing to so many. Prayers for all the family.

Mrs. Jerri was absolutely the sweetest lady. We had many delightful conversations when she would come in to have her hearing aids serviced. She was just so much fun to talk to. Our office will miss her dearly.

Was so saddened by the loss of Jeri. I worked with Jeri in the gift shop and also attended church along with her at St. ELIZABETH'S. God bless her sweet soul. She always had a smile! Prayers for the family.
