Ginger Sue Gates Goates, 71, of Port Acres, Texas passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011. Ginger was born February 21, 1940 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Nelson Wyatt Gates and Frances Avis Walker Gates. She was an area resident for 63 years and member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ginger retired as an executive secretary from Ameripol Synpol after 42 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Goates;and sister, Dale Simon.Surivors include her two daughters, Kemi Abell and husband, Kyle of Bothell, WA, Erica Dean and husband, Brad of Groves, TX; sister, Maudine White and husband, Rusty of Port Arthur, TX; brother, Gary "Bo" Gates and wife, Cherry of Groves, TX; six grandchildren, Chase Hebert, Britanie Hebert, Malorie Hebert, Aspen Dean, Savannah Abell, and Maci Dean; one great-granddaughter, Kaydence Hebert; step-mother, Vivian Gates of Groves, TX; and her faithful dog, Maddie. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Jeff Bell officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Dear Family, My heart is sadden by your loss. I know you will miss Ginger (mom, grandmother, sister, friend, etc.) tremendously. May you all grow closer to the Lord Jesus in these days of grief.
