Gladys Dore' Cazemier, 89, of Port Arthur died Sunday, October 9, 2011. Gladys was born on March 20, 1922 in Leonville, Louisiana to John and Odelle Dore'. In 1928 Gladys, along with her parents and siblings Harry and Lilly, moved to Port Arthur. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941 and attended Port Arthur Business College, now known as Lamar State College-Port Arthur. Gladys married John Cazemier, in 1942 and made their home in Port Arthur after relocating from Chicago, Illinois in 1950. Gladys was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Port Arthur and an involved participant in numerous local charities and an enthusiastic supporter of community activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cazemier; her father and mother, John and Odelle Dore'; brother, Harry Dore'; and infant brother, Howard Dore'. Survivors include her two sons, Harry Cazemier and his wife Sandra of Houston, Texas and William "Bill" Cazemier of Seward, Alaska; sister, Lilly Davidson of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Nell Dore' and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by everyone who loved her. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas. A graveside service for family and close friends is planned for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves, Texas. Reverend Kyle Morton of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur will preside. In lieu of usual remembrances, and for those who so desire, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Magnolia Manor in Groves and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care of their beloved mother.
