Gloria Dale Edwards Britain On Dec. 17, Gloria Edwards Britain, 84, rose to the Heavens in song to join the Angel Choir. The service will be delivered by Reverend Malcolm Monroe, at 2:00 pm, Tuesday Dec. 21 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be held at Levingston Monday Dec. 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Born October 11, 1926 to Margaret and Ernest Elroy Edwards, I in Brunswick, Ga. Gloria was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Tx. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS in Port Arthur in 1944 and received a 2-year secretarial degree from Port Arthur College. She then worked for the local draft board office during WWII. She sang in the Department Club Choral Club with many years of community performances. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Arthur, UMW and choir. She was a "lifetime" and active member of the PTA for P.A.I.S.D., also an active member of the Lamar Port Arthur Alumni. She was very active in the community and with family. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack W. Britain, as well as her parents and great grandson, Dylan Kade Spoonmore. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Dr. Cynthia Crain, and Dwight Lee of Atlanta, GA; Scott E. Britain and Kitty of Kissimmee, FL. and Susie Chirafis and John of Port Arthur. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Shannon Britain, Kristen Britain, Erica Britain, Scott E. Britain, Jr., Christi Slaughter and Traci Slaughter. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a local organization of your choice. The family gives special thanks to Social Systems or Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and staff. Dr. George and staff, and the staff and doctors of Christus Hospital St. Mary and Christus Hospital Dubuis.

I just wanted to let everyone know you are in my prayers. Funerals are never easy, but especially sad around the holidays. Gloria always had an angel's voice. Now she is singing in God's heavenly choir, with Jack directing and Grandma E playing the piano. May God bless all of you.
