Gloria (Dodie) Carlquist Reichle

Gloria (Dodie) Carlquist Reichle, 91, of Nederland, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the presence of loving family and friends at Cypress Glen East Nursing Home in Port Arthur. She was born September 25, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Roy and Beatrice Carlquist.

Born and raised in Port Arthur, she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Port Arthur College. For many years she owned and operated Tots Town, the first children’s clothing store in Nederland.

She was known as “Dodie” by all who loved her, and as “Dodo” by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Donald S. Reichle, brothers Roy (Bubba) Carlquist, Jr., Jackie Carlquist and R. B. Carlquist, sisters Lurlene Beach , Idanell Doty, brother-in-law Alfred Reichle and sister-in-law Anne Meeker. She is survived by her son Randy Reichle of Nederland, daughter Stephanie Gallagher and husband Pat of Nederland; grandchildren Jeremy Gallagher and wife, Heather, of St. Louis, MO, Brent Gallagher and wife, Cassie, of Houston, and Drew Gallagher of Nederland, Randi Sue Burris and husband, Dan of Nederland, Maribelle Reichle of Nederland and step-granddaughter Angie Thier and husband Chuck of San Antonio; great-grandchildren Mia and Kiley Gallagher of St. Louis, Ava and Ella Gallagher of Houston, and step-grandchildren Charlie, Chance and Chandler Thier of San Antonio. She is also survived by brother-in-law Dale Beach of Winnie, sister-in-law Marsha Reichle of Baton Rouge, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches with the Reverend Cliff Rucker presiding. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. and will also be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches. Graveside services will be conducted at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
