WOW, MawMaw, look at the beautiful family your love has grown!
Gloria was born on July 27, 1926 in Port Arthur, TX. From an early age, she loved working alongside her father and helped manage Sonnier’s Grocery Store in Port Arthur, TX. Once married to Earl J. LaGrappe, they began a family and she worked at a variety of retail stores until she and her husband established and managed Earl’s Sheet Metal and Aluminum in Groves, TX. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling and used her many talents to gather people to help dear family and friends, through prepared meals, caring for children and even sewed beautiful wedding and Communion dresses. She was a very devout and faithful servant of the Catholic Church serving on the Altar Society and as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound for more than 40 years for Immaculate Conception and St. Peter Catholic Churches. She was always up for an adventure and loved to travel, especially to witness and celebrate important family milestones. She will be missed dearly and forever remembered as a dear sister, devoted wife, loving mother and friend to so many, a proud cheerleader for all her grand- and great-grandchildren, a prayer warrior, faithful servant, adventurer and highly organized person that never missed a birthday. And to her we say, “Well done! Well done, good and faithful servant! …may you enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 16th with the Viewing from 9:00-11:00am at Melancon’s Funeral Home (1605 Ave H, Nederland) with a Rosary being recited at 9:00am, 11:00am procession to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 11:30am Mass (4100 Lincoln Ave, Groves) and Interment following at Greenlawn Cemetery (3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves). Family and friends will conclude with a meal at Immaculate Conception’s Marino Hall.
