Grace Claire (Guidry) Thacker, 68, of Groves, Texas passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Port Arthur, Texas. Grace was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 21, 1950 to the late Albert F. Guidry and Jackie (Andrus) Atkinson Guidry.

Those left to cherish Grace’s memory are her loving husband of 40 years, Dwight Thacker of Groves, Texas; brothers, Michael Guidry and his wife, Wynnelle of Nederland, Texas and David Guidry and his wife, Donna of Port Arthur, Texas; nieces, Meredith Johnson, Kymberly Fromme and Alicia Guidry; nephew, Troy Guidry; cousins, Karon Jackson, JoAllison Childree, Dee Smiley and Micah Atkinson; and a host of other extended family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, September 23, 2018 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday morning, September 24, 2018 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.

I was so sad to learn today of Gracie’s death. Growing up across the street was the start of a wonderful friendship of many years. Gracie and I could conjure up cowboys and Indians and turn a pickup bed into a sailing ship with little effort. Her precious parents treated me like one of their own. Such sweet memories.
