Grimes Alfred "Preacher" Williams, 88, of Port Neches, Texas died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at his residence. Grimes was born December 20, 1921 in Pine Grove, Texas to Semion Alfred Williams and Ilene Brough Williams. He was a resident of Port Neches for 62 years and a member of Hogaboom Church of Christ. He retired from Texaco Port Arthur as a Supervisor and served in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines during WWII. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home Port Neches with Mr. H.L. Collett officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Velma Clemons Williams of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Merrilyn Williams of Vidor, Texas; sons, Whicket Alfred Williams of Kingsbury, Texas, Stephen Donace Williams and wife, Peggy of Orangefield, Texas, Walter Jeffery Williams and wife, Thanhtuyen Pham of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, B.J. Williams and wife, Megan, Stephen Williams and wife, Andrea, Erin Kay Chapman and husband, Michael, Julia Rodriguez and Eric Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Kaylyn Chapman and three more on the way.

I am so sorry to hear about Preacher. We had worked at Texaco and he was a friend. I have many good memories from our job in the second hand drum yard until his retirement. My sincere condolence to his family of whom I remember him loving very much.
