Grover Alfred Mackenroth, Jr., 67, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away December 31, 2010 at St. Mary39s Dubuis Hospital in Port Arthur. He was born May 17, 1943 in Port Arthur to Grover Alfred, Sr. and Gloria Olga Ferris Mackenroth. He retired after 26 years with the Coast Guard. He taught at the local prisons basic and advance diesel and had night classes in accounting.He is the loving husband of Diana Mackenroth of Port Arthur devoted son of Gloria Mackenroth of Nederland cherished father of Laura Lee Rico of Alexander City, Alabama, Mike Mackenroth Judy of Gloucester, Virginia, and Patrick Mackenroth Elizabeth of Shakleford, Virginia grandfather of Josiah Mackenroth of Gloucester, Virginia and brother of Donald Mackenroth of Nederland.He is preceded in death by his father, Grover Alfred Mackenroth, Sr.A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Melancon39s Funeral Home Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. I am so sorry for your loss. Mack and I were stationed together at then, RTC Yorktown for a number of years. It wasnt until I saw the notice in the retiree newsletter that I learned of his passing. He was one of the kindest peolpe that I have ever known. He was also one of the of friends you could have. I regret I did not stay in touch with him after we retired.

Grover, and I went to Trinity Lutheran School, Woodrow Wilson and T.J. He truly was a wonderful dear friend. Im truly sad to know his journey on earth has ended.
