Gwyndolin Ruby Tipps Carriere, 89, of Groves, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Forever Young Home in Groves.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Groves. Officiating will be Reverend Michael Due.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday June 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Groves.
Gwyn was born in El Paso, Texas, on November 9, 1932, she was the daughter of Leander Russell Tipps and Elva Bernice Harris. She was a prayer warrior and loved serving the Lord as a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and taking care of any other task that needed handling. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Secretaries of Port Arthur. Family enjoyed listening to her read the Christmas Story every year, Sunday dinners after church and waffles at the beach. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, especially Jackie. Gwyn was an artist and enjoyed painting pictures of God’s beautiful landscape.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Carriere; son, John Carriere; daughter Susan Havard; sister, Jackie
She is survived by her son, David Carriere and wife Jill of Port Neches; her daughter, Rachel Walker and husband Stephen of Port Arthur; her son-in-law, Jackie Havard of Beaumont; brother, Nolan Tipps and wife Gayle of Nederland; sisters, Grace Moye of Houston; Portia Kinney and husband Dale of Houston; Beckie Simpson and husband Mike of Henderson, Tx; six grandchildren Michael Walker (Cara), Samuel Walker, Jereme Havard (Kacy), Daniel Walker (Holly), Erica Bradley (Tony), and Elizabeth Lott (Josh); ten great-grandchildren
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Walker, Samuel Walker, Daniel Walker, Jackie Havard, Jereme Havard, Tony Bradley, Rusty Goates, and Jim Perry.
The family would like to express how thankful they are for the wonderful care given to their mother by Penny Lee and her staff at Forever Young Home. Also a special thank you to Phyllis with Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care and compassion.
