Harold W. Rhodes, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at Promise Hospital in Nederland, Texas. Harold was born October 22, 1925 in Selma, Louisiana to Thomas Allen and Oma Winn Rhodes. He was a resident of Groves for 60 years and retired pipefitter/welder from Gulf Oil Corporation with 34 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Oma Rhodes; two brothers, James Warren Rhodes and Thomas Allen Rhodes, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Vera Rhodes of Groves; daughter, Margaret Sullivan of Groves; son, Tom Rhodes and wife, Kathi of DeRidder, LA; two sisters, Nellwyn Harris and Sue Mott both of Alexandria, LA; four grandchildren, Cody Rhodes, Aaron Rhodes, Scott Rhodes, and Brittany Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Kamryn Rhodes and Turner Rhodes. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
