Harvey L. Covington, 81, of Port Arthur, Texas joined his Lord and Savior, and his beloved wife, Gail Covington on Monday, October 10, 2022. Harvey was born May 14, 1941 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Edna (McMichael) Covington and H.D. Covington and grew up in Longview, Texas.
After graduating from the University of Texas, Harvey began and ended his 40-year DuPont career at Beaumont Works as a mechanical engineer. During his time, he led projects to build new plants from Houston to Niagara Falls. Harvey enjoyed spending relaxing time at the lake with his beloved family, precious dogs and Vernon’s Kuntry Katfish. During his career, he relocated many times around the country, but always made time to serve at church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, seniors “Joy Club” leader or just carrying boxes for the food bank.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey David (H.D.) Covington and Edna Blanche (McMichael) Covington; wife, Gail Covington; brother, Homer Covington and sister, Lois Parks.
Those left to cherish Harvey’s memory are his children, Bryce Covington and his wife, Michelle of Greenville, South Carolina; Kyle Covington and his wife, Lisa of Round Rock, Texas; Cassandra DeWall and her husband, Parrish of Port Arthur, Texas; Shawn Covington of Bridge City, Texas; Tyler (Shelby), Austin (Haley), Kaitlyn, Grace (Caleb), Madelyn, Kayla and Bryce Jr.; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way. Harvey is also survived by sister-in-law, B.J. Covington of Longview, Texas, and brother-in-law, Preston Parks of Nederland, Texas.

The family will hold a private graveside service for Harvey at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
