Harvey Lee Merrell, Sr, 88 of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Harvey was born in Port Arthur, Texas to the late, Russell Merrell and Delphine Pelloat Merrell.

Harvey worked and retired from Texaco/Chevron Oil as a machinist.

Harvey is survived by his son, Buddy Merrell of Nederland, Tx; daughter, LaWanda Contreras of Seattle, Washington; his brother, Russell Merrell, Jr of Nederland; sisters, Sandra LeLeux of Starks, La. and Shirley Immel of Nederland,Tx; grandchildren, Lee Ann Kennedy and husband, Ruston Kennedy, Jeremy Russell Merrell, Stephen Contreras, Esai Contreras, Michael Contreras, Angelica Contreras; numerous great-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Jane Monroe Merrell.

In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his Daughter-In-Law, Dolores “Dolly” Merrell.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with rosary at 5:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
