Hazel Reid Dixon, 93, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Kingwood, Texas. Hazel was born on July 29, 1923 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to the late Robert Asbury Reid and Mary Neal Reid.
Hazel was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Port Neches where she was involved with the Y.M.A and the W.M.V. She was also a member of the Kappa Delta Pi as well and the Sigma Delta Pi sorority group.
Hazel had a great love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her favorite Bible scripture can be found in the book of Matthew chapter 6 verses 9-13, also known as The Lord’s Prayer.
Those left to cherish Hazel’s memory are her sons, Terrence Dixon and his wife Mary of Spring, Texas, Richard Dixon and his wife, Linda of Huffman, Texas; granddaughters, Sunday Luna and her husband Joe, Aimee Juede and her husband Chris; grandsons, Richard Christian Dixon and his wife Niki, Aaron Daniel Dixon and his wife Elena; great-grandchildren, Caden Dixon, Tifani Dixon, Avery Juede, Matthew Juede, Jacob Luna; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer Boyd Dixon; her parents, Robert Asbury Reid and Mary Neal Reid; brothers, Dr. W.E Reid, Webster Reid, Mitchell Reid, Dempsey Reid, Rodalpha Reid and one sister, Maggie Carroll.
Funeral Services to celebrate Hazel’s life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at First Baptist Church Port Neches with the Rev. Dr. David Mahfouz, Officiant. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Services are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.
