I read your letter to me yesterday. In it you blamed me going to school and getting a higher education for all the problems that my children had. Should my values had been sitting around without a job drinking beer? Or maybe even living in a Woman's Shelter would have been better? I had no husband, I had no help from you, or the children's father. No child support, no money, nothing. My values were to get an education, to be an example to these children, but the influence of alcohol and drugs from their father weighed heavier on their minds than studying to be anything. With that education I was able to employ many people and pay them more than the area dentists. I was able to educate my granddaughter Lauren with a top notch education and have her surrounded by mentally well people that did not sit around and drink. With that education I helped every family member that asked for it including buying cars, windows, clothes, paying for grandchildren to attend private schools, raising 3 out of 4 of my daughter's children. With that education I helped thousands of people get their smile back, their self-esteem, their ability to chew food and be happy and healthy. With that education it opened my mind, and my heart to many things I was trained as a child to be closed to such as different foods, cultures, and people of color, and religions. With that education I became a more well-rounded person, with no time to sit around and gossip about the family. Of course, we all have choices, those were mine. I also read THE BOOK...in THE BOOK...it clearly says our Dear Lord knows everything, even the numbers of hairs on our heads, and nothing is done without it being written first. So, Mom, It was written before I was born that I would attend school, I would become a doctor and my children would be what our Dear Lord wrote in their books to be. Some people's lives are there to set an example. I'm sure my life is worth something to Our Maker. I answer to Him.

To the family and friends of Helen Benoit you have my deepest sympathy. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Helen Benoit was truly a very hard working lady. Helen gave so much of her time to the Babe Ruth Baseball. This lady never complained about any task she faced. If you wanted the job completed and fast then Helen Benoit was the lady for the job. Helen, you are singing with the angels now so you rest well and we will see you again. Wait for us. I love you Helen Benoit. Thank you for all your hard work and wonderful memories. Sincerely, Charlotte Metreyeon

My mother taught us girls how to work. How to do it right the first time. Also Shrimp Gumbo on Friday night, fried Chicken on Thursday night, Sunday lunch Chicken stew with sweet peas. I remember eating at the table as a real family, no standing around eating with a plate in our hand, or watching t.v. My mother taught us manners, how to sit up straight, say yes ma'am, no ma'am, and to respect the elderly. She taught me how to love babies. I've raised my own basically alone and 3 grandchildren totally alone. My mother taught us how to keep a house clean, how to look beautiful everyday no matter what, and it all paid off in many ways. My mother taught us how to pray with her example. I am a praying woman and a woman that raises children in church and in Christian or Hebrew schools, no matter what, God is never missing in our house everyday. She taught me how to give, be generous, think of others first. It made me a very strong person, it helped me give to many people, and I will until it is my turn to be laid to rest. She taught me how to read the Bible because I watched her read it, she taught me how to sew, buy groceries, make a bed "Military Style", ha, or she was going to kill us...lol...heard it everyday, but it's one of my fondest memories, because I say the same thing. She always laughed, smiled, smelled good, and looked beautiful. The picture is engraved very deeply in my memory. I did not attend my mother's funeral because I never want to see her not smiling..Now I have beautiful memories, and had a beautiful life. Thank you Mom. Debbie

A WOMAN OF VALOR WHO CAN FIND? Far beyond pearls is her value. Her husband's heart trusts in her and he shall lack no fortune. She repays his good, but never his harm, all the days of her life. She seeks out wool and linen, and her hands work willingly, she is like a merchant's ship; from afar she brings her sustenance. She rises while it is still nighttime, and gives food to her household and a ration to her maids.....She spreads out her palm to the poor and extends her hands to the destitute. She fears not snow for her household, for her entire household is clothed with scarlet wool. Bedspreads she makes herself; linen and purple wool are her clothing....Garments she makes and sells, and she delivers a belt to the peddler. Strength and splendor are her clothing, and smilingly she awaits her last day. She opens her mouth with Wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.....Her children rise and celebrate her; and her husband, he praises her...PROVERBS 31:10-31
