Helen Ruth Howard, 91, of Groves passed away Friday, May 1, 2020. Helen was born September 2, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Roy Finley and Bessie Rives Finley. Helen was a faithful member of the United Methodist Temple where she also worked many years as a Mother’s Day out teacher. Helen had a special place in her heart for animals and children. She had a green thumb for gardening; she loved to grow different kinds of vegetables and flowers. Helen loved to visit the San Antonio River Walk with her husband, Raymond Earl Howard Sr. Helen loved her family very much and will be deeply missed.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Raymond Finley and Bessie Mae Rives Finley; and her beloved husband, Raymond Earl Howard Sr.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Raymond E. Howard Jr. of Groves; Lois Young and her husband, Dave of Orangefield; Richard Howard and his wife, Trina of Pine Forest; and Helen Ruth Spiel and her husband, Mel of Kingwood; grandchildren, Shannon Marsh and her husband, Sam of Bridge City; and Kevin Young and his wife, Dilyn of Elkton, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Connor, Finley and Emily; brother, Glenn Finley Sr. and his wife, Shirley; and sister, Bette Jones.
Due to the Coronavirus-19 the family will have a private service Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home, with interment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
