Helena Mary Duhon, 87, of Benton, Illinois formerly of Port Arthur, Texas passed away June 13, 2020. She was born in Leonville, Louisiana on August 2, 1932 to the late Joseph Yves Hargroder and Lillian Richard Hargroder. Helena was a Physical Therapist for St. Mary’s Hospital before retiring.
Those left to cherish Helena’s memory are her children, Brenda Meche Toutcheque and her husband Roy of Vinton, Louisiana, Keith Meche and his wife Kathy of Nederland, Kathy Meche of Bridge City, Mona Meche Darbonne of Boulder, Colorado, Gregory Meche of Nederland, Deeanna Meche Demarest and her husband Mike of Longville, Louisiana, Melissa Meche Engel and her husband Creig of Salem, Illinois, and Kim Meche Chwascinski and her husband Scott of Benton, Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother Lee Charles Hargroder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband LeRoy Duhon; and her granddaughter Rebecca Darbonne.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. J. C. Coon celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
