Helga Block Woods, 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at her home.

Helga was born November 6, 1939 in Schweinfurt, Germany to Kilian Scheuplein and Montilda Popp Scheuplein. She was a resident of Nederland for 62 years and a member of First United Methodist Church in Nederland.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Monika Schu and fiancé Scott White of Oglesby, Texas; son, Richard Donald Woods and wife Gay of Port Neches, Texas; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

It was a joy to have Helga at the Senior Citizen Center. I will miss hearing her laugh while playing dominos with her friends. I always looked forward to the stories she shared with all of us. Sharon Lemoine Director Port Neches Senior Citizen Center

In 1992, Helga came into my life as my second mom. She was also my best friend and my domino parner. She would laugh at me because I would get all excited and take my turn out of order. I am happy for her that she is resting in her Savior's arms but her death has left a huge hole in my heart. Love you always.

My name is Kelli I filled in at the Sr Bldg during the summer and holidays. Ms. Helga and few others we would play Mexican train it was my most cherished memories being able to visit and listen to stories they all had to share with me. With a heavy heart all 4 have passed away now but I will remember each one with warm fond memories. Play a round for me up there my dear sweet friends one day we can all play a round together.

Helga always wore a smile and you always felt comfortable in her presence. She was always there for our annual picnic at Gay and Ricky's when I came home for a visit. She lived life and I admired her . I pray for strength and peace for all the family during this difficult time. Jill McBride
