Henry N. Gregory, 99, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2025, in Baytown, Texas. Born on December 5, 1925, in Port Arthur, Texas, Henry led a life rich in experiences and accomplishments, cherished by all who knew him.
Henry dedicated 38 years of his career as a machinist at Texaco Refinery, where his expertise and work ethic earned him great respect among his peers. In addition to his professional life, he proudly served in the United States Army, showing his commitment to his country and community.
A man of many passions, Henry had a profound love for music and was an accomplished local musician, often seen playing lead guitar at various events and gatherings. His enthusiasm for the arts extended beyond music; he enjoyed traveling and attending concerts, where he reveled in the joy of live performances. Henry also had a knack for building, expressing his creativity through hands-on projects that brought him immense satisfaction.
Henry is survived by his children, Allen T. Gregory of Nederland, Eileen Preston and her husband, Michael of Richmond, TX, Larry Gregory, Sr. of Port Arthur, and Mark Gregory, Sr. and his wife, Elisa of Hockley, TX. He was a proud grandfather to Chris Gregory and wife, Suhail, Jason Preston, Sr. and wife, Amanda, Ryan Gregory and wife, Samantha, Chad Preston and wife, Krystal, Marcus Preston and wife, Christine, Megan Gregory Rudd and husband, David, Larry Gregory, Jr., Lauren Preston Barnes and Nikki Barnes, Cody Gregory, Tracy Gregory, Mark Gregory, Jr., Jessica Walden and Emma Marino. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Quinn Gregory, Elliot Gregory, Alexander Vargas, Nicolas Vargas, Dominic Gregory, Anderson Gregory, Noah Gregory, Gabby Preston, Jason Preston, Jr., Sophia Preston, Maddie Preston, Averi Preston, Kenzie Preston, Brynn Preston, Caleb Preston, Leighton Preston, Preston Barnes, Harrison Rudd, Parker Rudd, and Amaris Ayala-Gregory.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Simmons Gregory Davis and Charlie Gardon Gregory, Sr., his beloved wife, Frances Gregory, and their children, Henry Nelford Gregory, Jr. and Jane Gregory, his siblings, Gordon Gregory, Jewel Gregory, John W. Gregory, and Fred Gregory.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on January 20, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral to begin at 1:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston in Groves located at 5601 39th St., Groves, Texas. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
