Henry F. Lowe, Jr. Henry F. Lowe, Jr., 84, of Groves went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17, 2011. Henry was born on February 21, 1927 in Box Springs, Georgia to Winifred B. and Henry F. Lowe, Sr. Upon graduating high school, he attended Auburn University until the age of eighteen when he entered the United States Army. His military career spanned over twenty eight years of distinguished service including three wars; World War II era, Korean era, and Vietnam Veteran. He received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Maritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (8th award), Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. During his service he traveled to many different countries. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Mary Ellen, attended and graduated from Lamar University LVN nursing program in 1975. Together they worked at St. Mary Hospital and then with a private physician. Henry dearly loved to travel and valued nature and wildlife, but most of all loved his family. He attended Agape Christian Fellowship in Groves and was a member of VVA chapter 292 in Beaumont and Port Neches VFW Post 4820. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Steve Ghrone and Reverend Jeff Anderson of Agape Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Carter Lowe. He is survived by his three daughters, Janice Smith and husband, Walter of Kountze, Judy Mahoney and husband, Bob of Pittsburgh, Pa., Beth Stein and husband, Kenny of Groves, five grandchildren, Janna Fulbright and husband, John, Lara Calderon and husband, Roel, Carrie Stecz, Bob Mahoney, and Paul Stein, great granddaughter, Hannah Fulbright, and nephews, Billy, Bobby, and Barret Carter.
