I met Pepper (Henry) when I was 9 years old. It was 1935, Pepper was 17. Our families were both cotton sharecroppers in Sondheimer, LA. After the big war, I had a cotton crop in Willow Bayou (1947). During this time, Pepper ran the bar in Sondheimer, LA. After this year, we all went our separate ways. Many years later we met up again in Transylvania, LA. We camped on the Big Muddy, ate lots of catfish and hush puppies. Myself (Jimmy "Dude" Moore), Charlie Moore, Billy Thornhill, Junior Myers, Joe Cummings, Joe Bagby and J. M. Hataway would get together on and off with others to fish and camp. Lots of food and cold beer to enjoy good friendship. I was proud to call Pepper "Red" Myers my friend for over 80 years.

Henry and Helen Myers were relatives. For years in my childhood, I thought of them as my aunt and uncle. We shared the love of the outdoors, We shared a hunting camp where many a good weekend was spent in the Big Thicket. My father loved to hunt with him. Henry 'Pepper' Myers loved his family. One of my fondest photos of him was one taken in his uniform during WWII. It does not seem so strange he went to his heavenly home on Memorial Day weekend. He was a loving, caring man and will be missed by all who knew him. When I was approaching adulthood, a family member heard me refer to Henry and Helen 'Lucille' Myers as my aunt and uncle. He corrected me and said, "I think technically they may be your great cousins." They were, indeed, GREAT. Rest in peace, Cuz. I know by now you and Dad are hunting together enjoying the nature of Heaven and that you and Helen are back in one another's arms.

Mr. Myers, You will be truly be missed by our family. It was a pleasure to know you the past 10 years, thanks for always being sweet neighbor. We always loved your stories and your adventures, Especially you doing things like climbing on your roof a few years back and I got so scared and told Robert go out there before he falls and help him, but you was strong willed and strong minded and that was a awesome thing to watch and see first hand. We love you dear neighbor friend. Till we meet again Love The Burke Family.
