ibHerbert Ellis Hand, 79, of Nederland, TX, passed away surrounded by his family on November 28, 2008 at his home. Herb was born on January 18, 1929 in Apalachicola, Florida to the late Thrasher and Bessie Hand. Herb is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty J. Hand. He was the loving father of: Sandi Welch and husband Kenny of Groves Debbie A. Firmin of Nederland and soninlaw Terry G. Firmin of Mauriceville and soninlaw Joe M. Reynolds of Groves. He was the devoted grandfather of grandchildren: Stacy Delarosa and husband David, Joey M. Reynolds, Stormy Wright and husband, Jeff, Shelby Firmin, Shayne and Jake Welch and great grandchildren: Drew and Cade Delarosa and Payton Wright. Herb will be missed by numerous relatives and friends.He is preceded in eternal rest by his parents and loving daughter Gloria J. Reynolds. Herb had lived in Nederland for 25 years. He was a retired car dealer and owner of Herb39s Used Cars in Nederland.A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, December 1, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, TX.Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 2, at 1:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, TX.
