Sadly the old neighborhood has lost another of their own. I think of the many times we played football and baseball on the big lot in the neighborhood and what fun times we all had as we all were growing up. My thoughts, prayers, and sympathies are with all of the Weatherly family. God's blessings, peace, and comfort to all of you.Harry Schoppe

I wanted to share this with you. I tried to post it on the memory board but it keeps getting removed.I love you The first time that I had the pleasure of meeting Daddy Hugh was years ago when Crystal and I went to visit him at his lake home around Halloween. The minute I walked in he welcomed me with open arms and took me in as I was his own. That night Crystal and I did our yearly pumpkin carving and Daddy Hugh was always our judge. He always had something witty to say as to why there was a "tie" because he wouldn’t dare hurt one of our feelings although when the other wasn't around he would always tell us both we were the "real winners in secret".I can remember many nights of the group getting together for a small jam session and we were always so blessed for Daddy Hugh to be there with us as he sat in the chair with him big pearly whites showing and Newt boy was right in his lap. Everytime I would see him he would tell me how proud he was of my dog rescue and he always always had a gift for the rescue dogs. Many nights they were warm and comfortable in their big blankets with full bellies because of the gifts this wonderful man gave to them. These things will never be the same without you Daddy Hugh and you will be missed so much. You truly have no idea the impact you had on my life and how loved you made me feel when you were around. You were and will also be a hero and fighter in my eyes.I love you Crystal and Caylan Please know that every second of the day ya'll are in my thoughts, prayers and always in my heart. I wish that I could take all of the pain away to ease the hurt, but since I can't know that I will be with you both and by each of your side every step you take during this time and forever. I love you

I knew Hugh when he lived in Ohio for a couple of years. We met through our children when we attended a fireworks display. Love was in bloom when after he left a single yellow rose by my front door. We had so much fun together, he told me silly jokes, we watched alot of football listened to country music, & hung out with the kids at the farmhouse he rented. I moved to Texas, to Grand Prarie with him for awhile, but I missed my kids too much & we decided to part ways. Still, I will always remember our time together, it was a sweet, precious time that I will cherish forever. Just as I will cherish Him forever. He & his children were my Texas family & I loved them.Till we meet again my H.T. <3 M<3

Hugh and I were good friends from the time we were 10 years old until high school. I lived one house down and spent a lot of time at Hugh's house. One funny thing that happended to us occurred on a camping trip to Wolf Creek near Dam B. Hugh's dad took Hugh, Greg M. and me along with a couple of their dogs. The tent we slept in was a wall tent with no floor. In the middle of the night the dogs started going crazy barking. The next thing we know we hear them headed our way. In flew an armadillo which proceeded to jump on the cots we were on and the dogs came in after it. We were screaming and hollering. The armadillo finally gets out and away go the dogs after it. The tent was a mess and we were so hyped up we did not sleep the rest of the night. That is the way you should remember Hugh. All of the good times he had and we along with him. I live in Alabama so I can not attend the funeral but God Bless to his family and to Hugh, enjoy that new home.

Hugh loved to fish as I did. He shared some of his secret fishing holes with me in different places. I know a spot that was a Weatherly family secret for catfish out on Taylors Bayou. Remember it well Hugh and myself went in at the bridge and angled around to the old catfish hole his Dad had shown him. We got out our fresh live shiners and it was own... we caught soo many .. aint saying they were all legal .. and of course we threw back the one's that were not.. uh huh... but we joked and fished he was a true friend, great smile and gentle and giving of heart. So many stories to share and so little time, he will be missed by all who knew him and he would not want us to morn over him but have a good fish cook out or grill some ducks anything he like to do have fond good memories of him in our hearts. RIP Brother Hugh .. Jesus has welcomed you in with my Brother Gary Soileau and all the others. Prayers to the family have peace from God. <3
