Ima Gene Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 29, 2024 in Groves. She was born on August 19, 1927, in Chapman Community, Texas. Gene was a cherished member of the Val Verde Baptist Church for an impressive 77 years.
Gene will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for fishing which she shared with her loved ones, and her kindness towards animals.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles C. "Bussy" Brown, sister, Juanita Manning, and brothers, Kenneth Truelock and Donald Truelock.
Gene is survived by her sons: Wayland Brown (Sandy) of Groves and James Brown (Debra) of Tyler, and daughter, Kathy Jeanis (Charles) of Groves. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Michael Jeanis, Michelle Crochet, David Brown, Stephen Brown, Patrick Brown, and Jason Brown; as well as seven great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Truelock of Grand Prairie.
A visitation to honor Gene's life will be held at Val Verde Baptist Church in Groves on June 3, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Ima Gene Brown's legacy of love and dedication to family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
