Ira S. Hubbard, 88, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Port Arthur, Texas. Ira was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 31, 1932 to the late, Matthew S. Hubbard and Emma Surber Hubbard.
Ira worked as a mechanic and retired with 10 years of service with Texaco and 33 years of service with Dupont. Ira was a dedicated parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland.
Those left to cherish Ira’s memory include his loving wife of 67 years, Florence Hubbard of Nederland; daughters, Jenny Babin and her husband, David of Bridge City, Texas and Natalie Jordan and her husband, Randy of LaBelle, Texas; sons, Bill Hubbard and his fiancé, Tanya of Rosharon, Texas, Matt Hubbard and his wife, Kim of Orange, Texas and Ben Hubbard of Port Arthur, Texas; sisters, Mellie Meaux of Port Arthur and Lucy Picou of Fannett, Texas; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ira is preceded in death by his brothers, Buster Williford and M.S. Hubbard, Jr.; sisters, Francis Whitehead, Ella Mae Broussard and June Wilson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Hughes, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Due to Coronavirus-19 we request that friends and relatives practice social distancing while attending Ira’s Visitation and Funeral Mass. All guests are required to wear a face mask before entering Melancon’s Funeral Home.
