Irene Foster Darville, 92, entered heaven's gates Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was met by a host of family and friends, including her husband of sixty-three years, Robert Henry Darville, her parents Nathan and Bertha Foster, two brothers and two sisters. Irene was born on April 13, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas, and lived in the area her entire life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1940 and then went on to Port Arthur College. Irene was an active member of Central Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Port Arthur for many years. Irene loved being involved with children and education. She gave many years to Port Arthur Independent School District, where she retired from after twenty years as a school secretary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Irene is survived by her two daughters, Janis Bonin Conkle and her husband Larry of Port Neches and Diane Abshier and her husband Steve of Beaumont. Irene was "Granny" or "Grandmother", to six grandchildren, Kim Conkle, Tracy Williams, Ken Conkle and his wife Kendra, Scott Bonin and his wife Rhonda, Keely Abshier Snyder and her husband Andrew, and Todd Abshier. She also had seven great-grandchildren; Kirsty Williams and Dylan Williams, Bishop Snyder and Harrison Snyder, Montgomery Bonin, Stratton Bonin, and Ranger Bonin, who all brought sunshine to her life. She was also "Aunt Rene" to nine nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of her wonderful caregivers who were her personal angels for the last years of her life.
