Irene Mary Gibson, 86, of Bridge City, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Beaumont, Texas. Irene was born on February 12, 1938 in Hackberry, Louisiana to the late, Rena Menard, Sr. and Anna LaPoint Menard.
Irene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Bridge City. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and loved spending time with her family and her closest of friends, Shirley Doucet and Ester Vincent.
Those left to cherish Irene's memory include her daughters, Patricia Nolan and husband, Leonard, Sr. of Hemphill, Texas, June Barbosa of Port Arthur, Texas, Janice Bucklin and husband, George of Port Arthur, Texas; her son, Vernon Gibson, Jr. and wife, Vicki of Silsbee, Texas; her sister, Mary Mosely of Sulphur, Louisiana; son-in-law, Larry Adams; sixteen grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Rena Menard, Sr. and Anna LaPoint Menard; her loving husband of 62 years, Vernon Gibson, Sr.; brothers, J.B. Menard, Eugene Menard, Rena Menard, Jr.; Huey Menard, Jimmy Menard, Alvia Menard and Joseph Menard; sisters, Linda Berthelot, and Cordy Judice; and her daughter, Sharon Kay Adams; and her son-in-law, Lionel Barbosa, Sr.
A gathering of Irene's family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
