Iris Daigle, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on October 9, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont due to a tragic automobile accident. She was born on October 12, 1929 in New Iberia, Louisiana to the late Ambrose and Marie Romero. She worked as an advisor/clerk for a finance company.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Denise Lee and husband, Sam of Nacogdoches, TX; sons, Don Daigle and wife, Connie of Port Neches, TX and Dwight Daigle and wife, Aimee of Fannett, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan Mullenix & wife, Kathleen, Robert Daigle & wife, Amanda, Vanessa Daigle, and Avery Daigle; and great-grandchildren, Morgan Winfree, Madison Mullenix, and Owen Daigle. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Leroy Daigle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., Father David Placette celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

Iris was my double first cousin and I loved her dearly. We have spoken at least once a week this past year. I did all her alteration on her beautiful bedazzled clothes. I will miss her greatly and wish I could be there to offer my comfort to her precious children. I have fond memories of all of you. May God bless you and comfort you during this heart-breaking time.
