Irving John “Mike” Prince Jr.
Mike Prince, Jr., 85, of Groves, passed away on March 4, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at Immaculate Conception in Groves. Officiating will be Reverend J.C. Coon. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Mike was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 24, 1938, he was the son of Irving John Prince, Sr., and Esther (Henry) Prince. Mike was an honorable member of the National Guard and went on to work for Texaco and then for Huntsman where he later retired in 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 3491 in Groves and was an avid supporter of the NRA. Mike loved sports and faithfully supported the PNG Indians, the Dallas Cowboys, as well as Duke in basketball. He loved his family dearly and left a lasting impact on many lives over his 85 years here on earth. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Karl Prince; grandchild, Karl Allen Neel; great grandchild, Alex David VonFeldt; and brothers, Manfred “Bitsy” Prince, and Matthew Dale Prince.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Peggy Prince; children, Michelle Kennedy and husband Jack of Silsbee, Angela Prince-Duplissey and husband Charlie of Port Neches, Kenneth Prince of Sour Lake, Bonnie McGallion and husband Fred of Silsbee, Keith Neel and wife Maranda of Nederland, Kevin Prince and wife Sarah of League City, and Kerri Prince and spouse Kimberly Wells of Florida; grandchildren, Sammy Gore, Kristi Currie, Amy VonFeldt, Carlo Prince, Kenneth Prince, Kristian Prince, Caleb Drake, Jeremy Drake, Sean Neel, Ashley Neel, Dylan Neel, Kymber Neel, Jackson Prince, Ellie Prince, Sophie Prince, Noah Prince, Patrick Prince, J.B. Kennedy, and Amelia Kennedy; 21 great grandchildren; siblings, Murray Prince and wife Linda of Nederland, Thomas Randy Prince and wife Kim of Port Arthur, and Marjorie Barras of Morgan City, Louisiana; sister in law, Tonya Vallot of Port Arthur; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Prince, Kristian Prince, Jack Kennedy, and Sammy Gore. Honorary pallbearers are Murray Prince and Thomas Randy Prince.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus of Groves.
