J.D. Mire, 98, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.
Born in Port Neches, Texas, on January 3, 1924, he was the son of Euphemon Mire and Louison Boullion Mire.
J.D. was a lifelong resident of Port Neches, Texas. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches and Port Neches Knights of Columbus Council # 2461 for over 80 years.
J.D. retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in 1983 where he was a Supervisor.
He loved fishing, working in his yard, and was always available to help someone in need.
J.D. served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pattye Mire, brother, Charles Mire, sisters, Vickie Broussard, Annie Cappadona, and Maisie Holland.
He is survived by his daughters, Jan Vercher of Haslett, Texas, Nancy Doise and husband Ken of Port Neches, Texas, and Jo Cutrer of Austin, Texas; son, David Mire and wife Lisa of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, John Schoenstein and wife Susana, Jason Goodwin and wife Angie, Mark Goodwin and wife Mary, Michael Doise, Shelly Kuempel and husband Jeff, Clint Breaux, Justin Vercher and wife Christy, Casey Vercher and wife Julia, Ashley Williams and husband David, and Tyson Mire and wife Amy; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nell Brackin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Goodwin, Mark Goodwin, Clint Breaux, Tyson Mire, Justin Vercher, and Casey Vercher. Honorary pallbearer will be John Schoenstein.
