Jackie Tipps Goates, 78, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Jackie was born August 6, 1931 in Sweetwater, Texas to Russell Tipps and Elva Harris Tipps. A resident of this area for 70 years, she graduated in 1950 from Thomas Jefferson High School. Jackie was faithful to obey God, she was a prayer warrior and served the Lord at First Baptist Church-Groves. She was faithful, dedicated, and loyal to her family. Jackie will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church-Groves with Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Bruce Goates of Groves; daughter, Dr. Brenda Goates Duhon and husband, Bobby of Port Neches; three sons, Rusty Goates and wife, Nancy of Winnie, Kent Goates and wife, Judy of Sam Rayburn, Keith Goates and wife, Glenda of Sam Rayburn; four sisters, Gwyn Carriere of Groves, Grace Moye of Houston, Portia Kinney and husband, Dale of Houston, Beckie Simpson and husband, Mike of Minden; one brother, Nolan Tipps and wife, Gayle of Nederland; three grandchildren, Amy Neeb and husband, Jeremy, Jared Owen and Kennedy Goates; one great-grandchild, Jayce Neeb. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church-Groves Building Fund.

I just wanted to say that i miss my sister everyday ! and that i think of her so often, even though i know she is in a better place with her friends and our parents . What a wonderful lady she was !!!!

There is not enough words that I could say good about Mrs. Jackie. I loved her like a mother. She was always the sweatest person to me no matter what.She has always been in my thoughts and my prayers when I found out about her stroke recently. I am so sorry for your lost and hope that God gives you peace in your heart knowing that she is with him smiling down on us. God Bless You All. Love Gail
