A Life Remembered

Obituary

Jackie Ruth Kemble, 85, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas with her loving family at her side.

Jackie was born on December 4, 1938, in Alba, Texas to Bessie Eaton Henderson and Raymond William Henderson.  She graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1972 and later got her Master’s degree in 1974.  Jackie was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches and was a retired Math teacher for the Bridge City Independent School District for twenty-one years.  She was an avid reader and loved to travel with her family.  Jackie was a devout Christian who loved and served her LORD and SAVIOR.  There was nothing she would not do for the church; often baking bread for those who had lost a loved one from the church or family members and even friends.  Jackie was an integral part of the First Baptist Church and considered them her family as they considered her family and loved her also.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Joe E. Kemble of Port Neches; children, Joe D. Kemble and Jeff Kemble both of Port Neches; her sister, Martha Tatum of Allen, Texas and other family members, friends and church members.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, R.W. and Bessie Henderson.

A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Port Neches located at 1900 Magnolia Ave, Port Neches, TX 77651.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeff Kemble, Randy Peno, Rick Poss, Frank Tatum, Jason Baker and Cecil Ott.

In lieu of flowers, "Memorial Contributions" would be preferred in Honor of and in the Memory of Jackie Ruth Kemble; sent to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, TX 77651. Jackie loved her Church so much that the family would prefer donations to the church or if you prefer, you may still send flowers to the service.

I only met Mrs. Kemble one time briefly, but her presence was keenly felt very often when her bread showed up in our kitchen at Developmental Studies. Even after many years of moving on from Lamar University's ROTC building, we remember to this day the scent and taste of something she so lovingly made and shared generously. It is one of the best memories that Diann, Rose, and I have, even to this day. Dr. Kemble and family, many blessings on you all, especially during this time of loss and sadness, and thank you for sharing your mother with us.

My condolences to the family. You are in my prayers. Mrs. Jackie Kemble was a beautiful spirited devoted Christian. I loved her dedication to her family and friends. She made the best homemade bread I have ever had. She will be missed and often thought about.
