Jacob Corey Vernon, 48, of Nederland, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2025. Born on July 8, 1976, in Beaumont, Jacob was the beloved husband of April Vernon and the devoted father of their pride and joys, Joli and Jalyn.
Jacob is survived by his father, Joe Vernon; his stepmother, Melanie Vernon; his mother, Cindy Vernon; and her boyfriend, Jerry Taucer. He is also survived by his sister, Brooke Vernon; and her boyfriend, Johnny Hancock; step-sister, Michelle Downey and husband James, his nephew, Sailor Vernon Dykes; and his in-laws, Rus and Renette Hebert; his brother-in-law, Chad Hebert; sister-in-law, Shaye Hebert; his niece, Parker Hebert; and his nephew, Myles Hebert, who were all a cherished part of his life. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Leland Vernon, Gloria 'Tutter' Vernon, and Steven and Helen Brown. A friend to all and stranger to none, Jacob leaves behind many other family members and close friends with whom he shared his life.
A man of great integrity, Jacob’s life was defined by his undeniable love for his family and friends. As a father, he was a constant source of love, strength, and guidance for his girls. You could find him in the seat of every theater, beaming with pride as he watched his girls doing what they love. He once said, “I will never forget the feeling when the doctor said, It’s a girl! I haven’t stopped smiling since!”
Jacob made every moment count. He was a loving husband to April, with whom he shared a deep bond and partnership built on trust, laughter, and unwavering love. Together, they created a beautiful life of 17 years, full of devotion, dedication, and selfless generosity to those around them.
When Jacob wasn’t supporting his wife and girls, you could find him on a court, in a stadium, or near a field. His love for sports was second only to his love of family. A Nederland Bulldog fan for life, Lamar supporter, and an avid tennis and pickleball player himself, he’d talk about ‘the game’ with anyone who’d listen.
Known for his warmth, infectious spirit, and a smile that lit up every room, Jacob had a heart that made everyone feel like family, whether it was opening his home for a gathering, offering a listening ear, or showing up to provide support to all he knew. He was a dedicated and supportive friend, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
For more than 19 years, Jacob served his clients as an Edwards Jones Financial Advisor, having earned numerous awards and recognition throughout his dedicated career.
Jacob’s unexpected passing leaves a void that can never be filled. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in the memories of his family and the countless lives he touched.
