Jaime Rodriguez Castillo, a respected electrician and a proud veteran, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on October 28, 1941, in Temuco, Chile, he brought joy and love into the lives of those around him throughout his remarkable journey.
Jaime's career was characterized by dedication and expertise, most notably during his tenure at Texaco and Huntsman, where he earned the admiration of colleagues and clients alike for his skillful work and unwavering commitment to excellence. His passion for his craft was evident in every project he undertook, and he took great pride in being an integral part of the communities he served.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jaime served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Navy. He served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968 onboard the destroyer USS Bigelow (DD- 942) as an electrician’s mate and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his discharge from activity duty, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve. He retired from the Armed Forces of the United States as an Electrician’s Mate Second Class in 1991 with an Honorable Discharge. His military service exemplified his strong sense of duty and discipline, qualities that he carried throughout his life.
While working and using the GI Bill, Jaime attended Lamar University where he earned an Associate Degree in Commercial Electrical Technology, an Associate Degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and an Associate Degree in Instrumentation Technology.
Jaime is survived by his beloved sister, Rebeca Castillo Rodriguez, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will deeply miss their uncle's warmth, guidance, and humor. Jaime's legacy lives on through the cherished memories he created with family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Jaime was preceded in death by his parents, Heriberto Castillo Toro and Maria Isabel Rodriguez Quintana, whose influence and values shaped the man he became and by his siblings René Castillo, Raquel Rivas, Pedro Castillo, Luis Castillo, and Isaias Castillo. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements and military service but also for the kindness and love he extended to those fortunate enough to know him.
As we reflect on Jaime R. Castillo's life, we celebrate the impact he made on his community and the loving bonds he fostered with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and deep familial love that will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.
Visitation services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., all which will be at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home located at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619.
Friends, family, and all whose lives he touched are invited to come together to honor Jaime's memory and celebrate the wonderful life he lived. His spirit will remain in the hearts of many, and he will be dearly missed.
