James Wiggins Avery, 88, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas. James was born March 16, 1931 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to John B. Avery and Ethel Mae Wiggins Avery. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Procter Baptist Church. James was a retired Pipefitter with Ameripol Synpol with 37 years of service. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Rick Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Surviving relatives include his wife, Anne Avery of Port Neches, Texas; sons, James T. Avery and wife Hope of Plainfield, Indiana, Paul H. Avery and wife Leighann Thorton of Smithville, North Carolina, and David J. Avery and wife Marie of Troy, Missouri; sisters, Pat Emmite and husband Jack of Independence, Missouri, Kathy Gore, and Susan Pierson; brother, Fred Avery; grandchildren, Justin Avery and wife Allyson, Ashley Fowler and husband Pat, Matthew Avery, Emily Avery, and Marnie Oberholtzer and husband David; great-grandchildren, Linus Avery, Lula Avery, Juniper Fowler, William Fowler, Dawson Oberholtzer, and Daniella Oberholtzer.
